Blues brother, I am only speculating but because it was a royal commission, the governor general, as the Queens representative is automatically involved, even if its merely to rubber stamp the findings.

Just relax, no need to prep.
If the US goes to pot, china will invade and they will have all the critical infrastructure back up and running in no time.

Its endless, and it starts from childhood.
If someone comes from a family that values higher education, the parents will begin grooming their kids and steering them towards that goal from an early age in the form of tutors, encouragement, discipline - 99% of JW kids miss out on that.
Important milestones that every kid gets to celebrate are ignored by jw parents. Also, normal relationships are difficult with non-believers at school, I was nervous to bring kids home to meet the family. Too much involvement with sport was frowned on, including the relationships that comes from those. Any errors that normal kids made- like experimenting with sex, are punishable by shunning, if you are baptised, or at the very least, private reproof and shaming in front of your family members.
Then there are the years lost in adapting to ever changing doctrine.

How many TRUE BELIEVERS do you think are left in the Organization?
by pistolpete ini have a few jw relatives who are true believers.
by this i mean, they believe with all their heart that 1914 was the beginning of the last days, that this is the last generation, that we are in the very last of the last hour of this system of things, and that you should obey the governing body even if it does not make sense.
all of them are in their 60s and up into their 90s there is nothing you can say or show them to convince them or even cause a small doubt that the wt is not god organization.

I agree with what most of you guys are saying.
The gb has done an incredible job in substituting themselves as the only way to attain salvation.
The last time I spoke to a jw in depth about their beliefs, their faith in the GB was all that counted. As an elder friend said to me in 2019, 'to question the gb was to question jehovah '. I told him, if he truly believed in God, then his thinking was dangerous. He hasn't spoken to me since then.

New Years Eve
by wozza inhere it is ,the end of a year and a new one starting tomorrow.. i do not want to reflect on the bad the year brought us ,but thankfully i will move into the new year glad that i am still here to enjoy the good things in life that are still here .. though i've had some personal bad stuff happening like all do from time to time i did have things to be thankful for ,like my loving partners support and a wonderful christmas visit with my daughters family and grand children.. i had to plan my driving trip to queensland in between covid shutdowns but this made it more exciting and helped me to see i should not take family for granted.. so i'm thankful for the good the year brought and yet sorrowful for those in the world who had bad things happen.. that's the stuff of life and sometimes it's worse for a while and then change brings better times.. i don't believe the strike of clock will bring change but what we do in our lives will ,i've made bad decisions that have lbrought life long change for bad but i have made some for good.
some things from outside will bring change ,like covid ,but it is how we handle things that really matters for the future.. the one big thing i am thankful for is getting insight from this wonderful site that helped me see what the disgusting watchtower org is in reality , and over the years have seen thru others here how they broke the clutches of a cult of liars.. so thank you all and hope that the future brings some happiness as well ,agong with the sorrow and especially to all the ozzies on here.

TO SELECTED BODIES OF ELDERS ASSIGNED TO THE COVID-19
by pixel indecember 25, 2020. to selected bodies of elders assigned to the covid-19.
re: adjustments to arrangements for meeting family food needs during the covid-19 pandemic.
dear brothers:.

This is interesting, does it apply only to the U. S., or is it a world wide directive?
Suspending a government sponsered food program because of 'safety' concerns seems odd, especially when it goes on to say, get help from local government if it's available.
You know with the org that there is always more to the story.

Are there more Bethel layoffs in the immediate future?
by LongHairGal ini just saw a post on reddit: ‘wt are prepping the r&f for changes in the march/april meeting workbook’.. in the post the person noted what they read (for march 8) and it mentioned bethel adjustments and reference was made to 2015 when bethelites were let go.. if this happens (yet again) another bunch of people are being sent home to fend for themselves in the big bad world at an advanced age with little to no preparation.
even though this doesn’t surprise me, it could not come at a worse time with a global pandemic and massive job loss everywhere..congregations are already in turmoil because of so many who reached retirement age totally unprepared because they were told armageddon would be here before they reached that age.
this is in addition to all the other ‘needy’ and troubled types in the congregations looking for as$istance.. i hope any bethelites there have a plan and some people they can contact.

All that will be left at Warwick eventually will be the gb, a handful of software engineers, lawyers, and someone to clean the pool.

8 Year Old Can Decide If They Are Transgendered
by minimus inso says joe biden.. anybody agree with this?
?.
-
joey jojo
Nhs has recently changed the wording of their transgender guidelines and taken a much more cautious approach. They are now saying that hormone replacement therapy may not be reversible. That's food for thought.
Whatever you believe, it's an unnecessary medical procedure conducted on a child, who has limited understanding of the consequences.

Remind re: The "Cult" Label
by Simon inif you accuse people of being stuck in jw mindset or "cult-like" mentality simply because someone has a different view of politics than you, you'll be deleted.. it's insulting and a lazy substitute for having any real argument for a proper debate.. what next ... "you smell" ?.

joey jojo
I agree Simon,
It's good to break up discussions with other subjects besides what's happening in jw land.
I think that Trump era politics have, and will continue to seed discussions that, while starting with good intentions, end up devolving into toxicity. Not just here but on every forum. I think a lot of people are a bit over it.
